Venue Insight June Issue

There really aren’t many better places to be than Britain in the summer. When the weather is hot and the days are long it really gives a sense of positivity that the hospitality and events sectors are going to be OK. There is a lot of work to do and a hell of a lot of support required, but as always, hospitality just keeps on trucking and provides joy to millions.

We’re spoilt for choice with things to shout about this summer! Hackney legends Five Points Brewing are partnering with the team behind London Fields Courtyard to unveil the new Five Points Courtyard, which has opened its doors. The 300-seater space will feature independent food traders, cocktails, natural wines, and tank-fresh Five Points beers with indoor, outdoor and bookable private areas. Be transported to the South of France as contemporary wine brand, Ultimate Provence, takes over London’s finest rooftop & terrace hotspots. Getting a taste of Provence currently are Lilly's Café terrace in Covent Garden, Jin Bo Law's Sky Bar in Aldgate, Sabine Rooftop Bar in St Paul’s along with Brasserie Blanc in Fulham Reach. More locations are to be announced soon. North of the border, Johnnie Walker Princes Street, Edinburgh, are stirring up the Scottish culinary scene with an exclusive new collaboration launched with two Michelin-starred team James & Maria Close to combine world-class cocktails with innovative cuisine.

The BII Licensee of the Year competition is widely regarded as the most rigorous and hard‑fought award for individual licensee operators in the UK. Since January 2023, operators from across the UK have been whittled down from a field of over 300 entrants, all vying to become the next BII Licensee of the Year winner. Following a final judging day at Sky Head Quarters, where each of the 6 finalists faced 3 panels of industry experts and operators, Joe Buckley & Flo Pearce from the Tollemache Arms in Harrington, were named as the champions!
