Amber Beverage Group To Sponsor Ukrainian Men’s National Basketball Team

The global producer and distributor of fine beverages, Amber Beverage Group (ABG), has announced its sponsorship of the Ukrainian men's national basketball team. The agreement supports the team's participation in the qualifying matches at the FIBA World Cup 2023, taking place in Riga, Latvia.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Jekaterina Stuģe, CEO of ABG, said: "We are supporting athletes who have done everything possible to become the best at their game in order to be selected for the national team. Their talent, impressive efforts, achievements, and agility must not vanish due to the war. We support the team and wish them the best of luck in their efforts to be the world-leading team they deserve to become. During the games, there will be hundreds of ABG employees cheering for Ukraine's victory. We hope that Ukraine will prevail - and not only on the basketball court."

Volodymyr Drabikovsky, the General Secretary of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation, commented: "Ukraine has found itself in very difficult conditions; there is an atrocious war happening in our country. The entire civilized world has united around helping our state, and this is felt from within. Sport is no exception in this hard situation, and we are grateful for the support and true friendships that are emerging. I am convinced that our partnership with Amber Beverage Group will be very fruitful for both sides and will create a long-term relationship. We are grateful to the company for its support, and we will do our best in upcoming matches to prove that the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian sports overall are a nation of determined winners."

Ainārs Bagatskis, the Head Coach of the Ukrainian men's national basketball team, said: "A very important moment is coming for the Ukrainian national basketball team in qualifying for the World Cup 2023. We need victories to solve our problems and reach the world championship. The Ukrainian national team deserves this, and we will do everything possible for this together with the players, friends, and partners. For Ukraine, the matches against Georgia and Spain will be nominally home matches, but due to the war we cannot hold them in Kyiv. I am pleased that the arena for these matches will be provided in Latvia, and that Amber Beverage Group will be the premium sponsor of the Ukrainian team."

The national basketball team of Ukraine is traditionally among the participants of the main European tournaments. In Autumn 2022, the team will take part in the European Championship. Also, the team of Ainārs Bagatskis has good a chance of reaching the World Cup 2023. The main stars of the Ukrainian national team are NBA players Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Alex Len, whose involvement should also help the national team reach the World Cup this summer.

Due to hostilities in Ukraine, the main location of the Ukrainian national basketball team is Riga, Latvia. It is here that the Ukrainians must play all their ‘home' matches of the summer qualifying cycle for the World Cup. The first games will take place on 1 July and 7 July and Ukraine will host Georgia and Spain respectively.

As part of the qualification for the FIBA World Cup 2023, ABG has achieved the status of being the premium sponsor of the Ukrainian men's basketball team. In turn, this will provide important financial support for the preparation of the Ukrainian national basketball team for five matches of the summer qualifying cycle for the World Cup, which today are key matches in the qualifying campaign. The national team of Ukraine can, for the second time in its history, enter the World Cup and present its national flag, which today is a symbol of democracy and the struggle for justice all over the world.
