Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin Launches Brand New 1.5L Bottle Driving Profits for Licensees

Gordon’s delivered double-digit growth in Great Britain as announced in Diageo’s full-year results[1], with Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin also the no.1 gin in the on-trade for Great Britain[2], after just under two years in the market

Gordon’s, the UK’s biggest gin brand[3], continues to drive profits for licensees as the success of gin, and in particular pink gin, shows no signs of slowing down[4].

With on-trade gin sales increasing 56% in value in the last year in Great Britain, reaching £1.4bn in the year to mid-May 2019, the gin category continues to boom, driven in part by the popularity of flavoured variants[5]. Accounting for 82% of total gin growth TY, pink gin has undoubtedly been the driving force behind the category’s growth4.

Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin (GPPDG), the biggest spirits launch in Great Britain in the on-trade in the last five years, is now the no. 1 gin2, after just under two years in the market. GPPDG is leading the gin category in the on-trade, achieving the highest rate of sales compared to the largest gin brands in the market4. Following its continued success, the brand is now launching a 1.5L bottle into the market.

The new bottle will allow licensees to increase visibility and create stand-out behind the bar. Designed to be easily identified on an optic, it will also improve speed and service, especially in outlets with less space on backbar.

Katie Thomas, Innovation Manager at Diageo GB, comments: “The popularity of flavoured gins has rocketed and with the number of people now drinking gin out-of-home up by 2.3 million in just 12 months2 there is a growing opportunity for the on-trade.

“With nearly 250 new gins entering the market over the last five years, operators can be faced with hard decisions when it comes to what to stock. However, as the best-selling gin in the on-trade2 and with limited space and visibility behind the bar, we’d encourage all licensees to stock up on Gordon’s Premium Pink Distilled Gin 1.5L format.”

Licensees can expand on the opportunity with the addition of GPPDG to their menu with serves such as Gordon’s Pink Spritz and Gordon’s Pink and Tonic.
