SHUFL partner Arc Inspiration’s bar The Box, Leeds was crowned best new bar at The Publican Awards. Judges praised the venue’s “innovative and experiential approach, sleek design and focus on creating a great atmosphere, along with commitment to high quality food, drink and entertainment”.
One of a new breed of operators offering a connected, next generation experience, The Box has created an experiential space with a modern take on traditional bar games and shuffleboard is a key part of this experiential offer.
Featuring two of SHUFL’s full-size 22 ft marketing-leading, maple wood shuffleboard tables, the venue has a dedicated ‘Shuffle Box’ area. It can be hired for private events and even features an 80” TV screen so customers can sip and slide without missing the sporting action.
The Box’s high-quality, engaging social gaming line-up successfully marries with stand-out, Instagrammable food and drink, which includes power bowls, bubble waffles and espresso and pornstar martinis on tap.
Arc Inspirations chief executive, Martin Wolstencroft said: “We’re a forward-thinking business that is tuned into the latest consumer trends and demands. When we were planning The Box, we wanted to focus on doing things a bit differently, with the aim of creating memorable experiences for our customers. SHUFL is helping to attract a vibrant customer community, increase dwell time and boost revenue.”
The venue uses tactical shuffleboard marketing, such as half price gaming on Mondays and Sundays to entice customers during quiet times. Players who think they’ve mastered the SHUFL curve can take on fellow competitors in a tournament every Wednesday evening to win a bar tab.
SHUFL UK CEO Dafydd Evans, added: “The Box is a great example of a bar that’s shifting bar culture to meet the demands of the experience-driven younger generations. They want active, memory-making socialising, which involves less alcohol consumption and prioritises quality over quantity. We provide pubs and bars with contemporary, premium gaming, which significantly increases footfall, dwell-time and revenue.”
