PUB19 Celebrates Another Record-Breaking Show

PUB19 is celebrating five successful years of being the UK’s only dedicated trade event for the pub industry after a show-stopping two days.

Since its inception, the annual show has seen a plethora of industry heavyweights including leading publicans, celebrity chefs and opinion-formers sharing their experiences, insight and expertise to thousands of visitors.

This year’s highlights saw Wetherspoon’s controversial boss Tim Martin draw in the crowds yet again for his second appearance, outlining his recipe for success for growing a business in the face of adversity – along with his vision of the sector in a post-Brexit Britain. Leading entrepreneur Charlie McVeigh, who has recently risen to fame after his appearance on the BBC’s My Million Pound Menu, also shared his wisdom on how to scale your business while keeping brand integrity.

Alongside the stellar speaker line-up, a number of leading suppliers used the show as a platform to showcase new products to the on-trade, including Thatcher’s Rose Cider; Hellmann’s new vegan mayonnaise and The Curators new meat snacks range of Pork Puffs.

A variety of engaging show features kept visitors entertained during the show, such as on-site quizzes from one of the stars of the hit show The Chase, plus education paired with delicious food and drink curated by expert sommeliers at The Taste Table and The Taproom.

This year, PUB19 launched its first-ever consumer research. The PUB Trends Report in partnership with Fever-Tree, examines what today’s pub goers want and expect when visiting the pub. The findings highlighted the contradiction currently at play in the market – for example, for every person who called for table ordering, there was another that enjoyed their visit without the intrusion of technology. These paradoxes continue across the board – from what people want to eat to what they like to drink. For a full copy of the report, please contact the PUB19 team pubshow@freshmontgomery.co.uk

PUB19 Commercial Manager, Alex Booth, said: “Every year The Pub Show gets bigger and better, and this year was no different. We had lots of returning exhibitors, which is great to see, as well as the chance to introduce new businesses to attendees. We welcomed over 4,500 visitors through the door – a record number for us – all with an interest in finding out what’s new and hot in this dynamic sector, networking with industry friends both new and old, and spending time with likeminded individuals. We can’t wait to get started on PUB20, watch this space.”

The show’s exhibitors enjoyed another successful event. Tristan Hogg, Co-Founder and MD at award-winning Pieminister, said: “PUB19 has been a really good show for us. It’s been a brilliant networking opportunity – we’ve met loads of new people, including independents and pub groups, so it’s very broad. It’s clear to us the show cares about the exhibitors, and that they have done a really good job marketing the event to attract a variety of different people in, which has been very beneficial for us.”

PUB20 will return to Olympia London on 4-5 February 2020. To keep up-to-date with news and information, visit www.thepubshow.co.uk, or follow @PubShowUK on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
