Blog: Lord Sugar Attending Speciality & Fine Food Fair to Show Support for the Thriving Artisan
British business magnate Lord Alan Sugar will have artisan producers clambering for his attention when he attends Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2018 – the UK’s leading showcase of fine food and drink. The star of BBC One’s The Apprentice will be showing his continued support for small producers, including business partner Alana Spencer who will be returning to the Fair with her Ridiculously Rich handmade cake company – which is exhibiting at the Fair in order to launch two new grab and go bars, the flavours of which are set to be revealed at the event.
As well as investing in Alana’s business in 2016, Lord Sugar crowned confectionery gifting service Sweets in the City the 2017 winner of The Apprentice, marking two years in a row that he has invested in food businesses. His growing interest in the UK’s artisan food market is a clear indication of the rise in consumer demand for speciality food – a trend that retailers and buyers can explore fully at Speciality & Fine Food Fair.
Speaking of his anticipated attendance at the Fair, Lord Sugar said: "I'm proud to stand alongside Alana as she announces her ‘Cakepreneurs’ initiative to progress Ridiculously Rich by Alana to the next level. Speciality and Fine Food Fair is the perfect opportunity to launch the initiative alongside her two brand new grab and go bar flavours”
The industry-only event, which takes place at Olympia London from September 2 – 4, has been described as ‘a melting pot’ for those working within the food, drink, retail and hospitality sectors. Bringing together more than 700 passionate producers and distributors, 200 of which are completely new to the UK market, the Fair provides an unrivalled opportunity for independent retailers, specialist buyers and wholesalers, importers, chefs and high-end caterers to tap into some of the best produce on offer today. Not to mention immersing themselves in current and future trends impacting the industry.
Entrepreneur Alana Spencer added: “After a successful experience at Speciality & Fine Food Fair prior to appearing on The Apprentice, it made complete sense to return for 2018 and make it the platform for launching my latest creations. There’s a real buzz of innovation and expertise at the event, which is precisely why it attracts the likes of Lord Sugar who see it as a hotbed of inspiration.”
