Big Fat Birthday Quiz and The Park Plaza Raise £82,000 For Hospitality Action
Hospitality Action’s ‘Big Fat Birthday Quiz’ raised £64,000. On the same night – 24th May 2017 – the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, where the quiz was held, presented Hospitality Action with a cheque for £18,000 – raised through the popular StreetSmart Campaign.
The quiz, hosted by Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, as seen on The Chase, saw Henry Hirst Provisions Ltd crowned champions out of the 43 competitive teams who took part.
Penny Moore, CEO, Hospitality Action, said: “What better way to help celebrate our 180th anniversary than by hosting a special birthday edition of our flagship annual quiz. It was great to see the industry come together to network and entertain colleagues and raise an amazing amount, which will hopefully help us to raise our target £1.8million this year. We are extremely grateful to Bidfood and the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, as well as Cobra Beer and Syft for their generous support – without them the £64,000 could not have been raised.
“It was a fantastic night for all involved and to be given an additional £18,000 from Daniel Pedreschi, General Manager at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge really was the cherry on the top.”
The hotel raised funds via a voluntary £1 added to diners’ bills last winter as part of the StreetSmart campaign, with an additional £2,000 generously donated by the hotel. Every year over 500 hotels, restaurants and cafes get involved in StreetSmart, which raises funds for vital charities by taking a small voluntary donation from each diner for a worthy cause.
