First and foremost, we’d like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2023. This will surely be the year that the sector can finally get onto the front foot and really repair the damage that has been done over the last three years. Our good friend Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive at UKHospitality goes into great detail on what the sector faces going forward in her monthly column on page 6.

Event season is approaching and an absolute must visit is Northern Restaurant & Bar in March. NRB23 (sponsored by Uber Eats), the first major hospitality event of the year, returns to Manchester Central on 14-15 March. An unmissable date in the diary for everyone in the hospitality industry, NRB23 will bring together over 8,500 visitors and 300+ exhibitors for two days of business, networking, and education. Come together with your industry, share your stories, get advice, meet suppliers, source new products, and be inspired by likeminded people.

We kick off the New Year with an abundance of openings and events. Award-winning premium bar operator Arc Inspirations, is set to expand its successful portfolio of venues into a new city with the introduction of Manahatta, Sheffield. Rudy's Pizza Napoletana has announced its third Leeds pizzeria on Otley Road, Headingley this spring, bringing 2,500 free pizzas for everyone. Whisky fans in Sunderland will be raising a glass, as Sheepfolds’ stables announces its latest addition for 2023, Speyside Distillers. And love is in the air as the spectacular Glaziers Hall on London’s Southbank hosts candlelight concerts this Valentine’s Day.

We catch up with the guys at CardsSafe to debunk the myths around retaining bank cards and why customers running a tab at your venue could increase sales by at least 30%! So if you want to increase sales, run a tab!

Forget dry January. Welcome in the New Year with Rooster Rojo’s smoky Tequilas. Invite your customers to kick off the New Year with a cocktail that is a delicious mix of pineapple and chocolate.

Have a great year!
