Venue Insight December 2020 Issue OUT NOW

Where does one begin to try and explain 2020 in a short, punchy intro? It’s an almost impossible task. Do you go down the upbeat road and risk being insensitive to those in dire straits? Or do you add to the doom and gloom pile which people are so sick of now? It’s clear that since March the hospitality landscape has changed forever and life as we know it in the industry is a million miles away from this time last year. However, hospitality was here before any of us and it will be around long after we’re gone. It’s the lifeblood of British culture and there is no doubt that it will get through this period, it has to. Here’s hoping that whatever tier you find yourself in, your venue can make a real fist of the festive season, get the tills ringing and look forward to a settled year ahead.

Neil Everitt, Founder and CEO of Brockmans Gin, ‘the gin like no other’ looks back on 2020 and gives his thoughts on the future of the drinks sector. We serve up the perfect drink for the most wonderful time of the year – the Dark Night Negroni. A dark, Christmassy night calls for a classic drink and this is perfect for any festive drinks menu.

We hear from HEINEKEN UK on how to prepare for the December trading period. Operators are constantly having to adapt to government guidelines and changing consumer behaviour but, this month, attention should be focused on nailing your festive offering ahead of this critical trading period and everything should be geared to delivering a memorable experience in December.

With ‘Veganuary’ 2021 just around the corner, we focus on how to position yourself to make the most of this growing opportunity and not get left behind with your vegan offerings. Central Foods have been expanding their range of vegan options for food service professionals in recent years, offering vegan items across the whole menu……from starters to snacks through to main courses and deserts. Once again, we hear from Louise Palmer-Masterton, founder of multiple award winning plant-based restaurants Stem & Glory on the top vegan trends that 2021 will have to offer.

The team at VI would like to say a huge thank you to our readers, advertisers and contributors for your support and loyalty in 2020. Be sure to give yourself a massive pat on the back for getting through this year and all it has thrown at you.

Take care
