The BII’s National Innovation in Training Awards (NITAs) Is Returning on 21st November 2023



The BII’s National Innovation in Training Awards (NITAs) is returning on 21st November 2023 – held at the beautiful Leonardo Royal London City Hotel, and refreshed with four exciting new award categories.


Year on year, the BII are inspired by teams who support and champion their people through training programmes that support the thriving hospitality industry.


The NITAs showcase the individuals and businesses who put their people first, creating innovative training programmes and nurturing long term careers in the licensed trade.


The awards have grown and developed in recent years, recognising the many areas of excellence across the sector. As such, 2023 will see the addition of four new award categories:


• Best Training Programme — Sustainability

• Best Recruitment Strategy

• Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Award

• Inspirational Leader Award

The usual core categories for the NITAs remain unchanged:

Best Training Programme: Leased & Tenanted Companies under 200 outlets

• Best Training Programme: Leased & Tenanted Companies over 200 outlets

• Best Training Programme: Managed Companies under 50 outlets

• Best Training Programme: Managed Companies over 50 outlets

• Best Training Programme: Individual Operator

• Best Training Programme: Apprenticeships

• Hospitality Apprentice of the Year

• Team Wellbeing Award

• Training Professional of the Year Award

• HR Manager of the Year Award



The NITAs is also where the BII has the honour of facilitating the esteemed Franca Knowles Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognises a special individual from within our industry who leads by example and demonstrates that people are at the core of what they do.


The award will be chosen by a panel led by Keith Knowles, CEO and founder of Beds & Bars, and is in memory of the late Franca Knowles, who herself was a multiple winner of NITAs awards and was passionate about the importance of investing in people and their continued training and development.
