Pop Brixton Reopens: Free Events & Brand New Street Food Traders

Following a five month hiatus, South London’s leading cultural space, Pop Brixton, is back open and ready to reveal its lockdown glow up. As well as undergoing a seasonal revamp complete with tropical plants, colourful murals by local artists and a new garden dining space, the vibrant hub has welcomed four new food traders, all ready to serve up mouth-watering dishes: from scrumptious Irish sandwiches to authentic Sri Lanken Kottu and Cutlets. Elsewhere, the Pop Bar is standing by, ready to serve ice-cold mixed drinks, beers and ciders from Brixton’s local breweries and distilleries. The site is also prepped for a busy events schedule, featuring weekly DJ nights with resident radio station Reprezent, Record Store Day parties with Container Records, Euro 2020 screenings and an array of community events. Pop Brixton is open for walk-ins, no need to book ahead. For more information, visit popbrixton.org

This spring, Pop Brixton has more mouth-watering food on offer than ever before, thanks to four new members ready to serve up some alfresco treats. Bringing a taste of Ireland to South London, Whisht will be on site with their lip-smacking sandwiches inspired by the Emerald Isle, whilst authentic Lebanese cafe Dough Thyme will be serving up tasty manoushe with a twist. Delicious Sri Lankan street food will be on offer courtesy of Singhé Kitchen, and brand new restaurant Only Food And Courses will be offering fine-dining with a ‘greasy spoon’ twist - expect crab scotch eggs and confit duck eclairs. There’ll also be more amazing food on offer from Pop Brixton favourites - including Halo Burger, Baba G’s, Mama’s Jerk, Caribe, Share A Slice and more.

Pop Brixton’s drinks offering is no less extensive. As well as the impressive selection of cocktails, beers and ciders on offer at the Pop Bar, guests can indulge in the very best new wines from South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia courtesy of Speciality Cellars, and a global range of hard-to-find brews from Beers Of The World. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, all cocktails will be half price until 7pm.

On top of the impressive food and drinks offering, guests at Pop Brixton can expect a wide array of the best events South London has to offer - many of which are completely free! This includes weekly DJ sets from renowned resident radio station, Reprezent, and Youth Markets, where some of Lambeth’s most exciting, young creatives sell their wares. Container Records will once again be going all out for Record Store Day, and Euro 2020 games will be shown on a giant screen.
