New Opening – Knowhere Special: A Modern-Day Vision for a Neighbourhood Pub

The modern neighbourhood pub that everyone is talking about is set to open its doors on April 12th.

Situated perfectly between Old Street and Angel, Knowhere Special Islington promises to bring you incredible coffee, unique cocktails and exquisite food in a cosy, exclusive and family friendly environment.

Knowhere Special is a fully independent restaurant, unlike any other.

So, what makes Knowhere Special so different?

The Food

Knowhere Special’s menu is based around ‘British Small Plates’. Think Tapas, but with staple British dishes. All of the food is locally sourced and premium quality, cooked by their incredible kitchen team.

On Sundays, Knowhere Special serve a Sunday roast to rival all others. During lockdown they sold ‘finish at home’ roast dinners, to huge success, and are looking forward to having their guests sit down in their venue garden to enjoy their meals from April 12th and inside from May 17th.

The Cocktails

Expertly hand-crafted cocktails, completely unique to the venue. Whether it’s a classic Old Fashioned or a Knowhere Special original, these are sure to be cocktails that leave you wanting another.

The Atmosphere

Owners describe their new venue as “our modern-day vision for a neighbourhood pub”, and the atmosphere accurately reflects this. The venue is cosy with a local pub feel, whilst also having the high-end exclusivity and vibe of a member’s bar. Knowhere Special is the perfect place for lunch with the family, whilst also being first choice for a girl’s night out or gathering the boys together to watch the races.

This is a local, neighbourhood venue, that people will want to travel to.

There are a number of bookable private rooms, perfect for functions and meetings. A select number of sporting events will be shown, but for the most part, the TVs will be removed to tie in with the venue’s incredible décor. It’s hard to miss the bright pink 1920s piano, which will be played by a jazz musician whilst you make your way through the phenomenal cocktail menu.

Formally North by Northwest, the venue was an Alfred Hitchcock themed pub. Whilst most of this has now been removed, guests may spot one or two nods to its predecessor in Knowhere Special’s décor.

Some may recognise the name. In Kentish Town, Knowhere Special is a popular bar, frequented by many, including the stars of Game of Thrones. Whilst connected in name, these two venues will run entirely separately, apart from sharing a love and talent for breath-taking cocktails.

Co-Owner, James Rix commented:

“We are incredibly excited to be taking this new step from event promoters to venue owners. This is a great opportunity to be opening a brand-new venue with exquisite cocktails and fantastic food. We want to create a venue that we, as 38-year-old business owners, would want to hang out in. We can’t wait to welcome everyone into Knowhere Special and see where the journey takes us.”

If all of this has you reaching for your phones to book a table, you will need to be quick as the venue is already sold out for its opening day. This is a hugely exciting new venue that is set to change the way people dine in London. Co-Owners James Rix and Fergus Harrington already have their eyes set on opening more venues across the capital in the near future.
