Las Iguanas Brings the Carnival to Canterbury

Las Iguanas, the home of Latin American vibes and boldly spiced flavours, is bringing its own brand of carnival fun to Canterbury this autumn. Las Iguanas are taking up residence on the corner of High Street and Longmarket from 26th September, introducing their lively Latin American cooking and tropical cocktails to Kent for the first time.

The new 200-cover restaurant and cocktail bar will feature Las Iguanas’ signature tropical green plant walls, vibrant flashes of neon, lustrous Mexican tiling and standout murals by artist @elnoart, part of the southeast-based WOM Collective (www.womcollective.org), inspired by the land and cityscapes of Brazil, Cuba and beyond. All of this stretches across two floors with two bars, regular late-night opening and DJ sessions. Two large outdoor terraces provide more seating and the perfect spot to make the most of any autumn sunshine.

Celebrating the authentic flavours of Latin America, guests will be able to sample an array of Iguanas favourites to the sound of cool Latin beats, including the famous Las Iguanas Bottomless Brunch – bigger and better than ever with TWO hours of unlimited cocktails, beer and prosecco and bookable seven days a week. It’s also Happy Days with 2for1 cocktails during Happy Hour (all day Sunday to Thursday, and before 7pm, then after 10pm, Friday and Saturday), featuring the Brazilian classic Caipirinha muddled with Las Iguanas’ own award winning Magnifica Cachaça distilled near Rio de Janeiro. Visit on your birthday and you’ll get the chance to learn how to make your own.

Discover classics from Mexico, Brazil and more on the menu, including stacked-up Fajitas sizzling in Las Iguanas’ top secret spice mix, and the classic North Brazilian curry, Xinxim - chicken and crayfish in a creamy lime and peanut sauce cooked from scratch in-house. There are a multitude of veggie, vegan and plant based options, with flavourful dishes from vegan Taco Sharing Boards with jackfruit, mushroom and chilli toppings to Moqueca de Palmitos, another classic Brazilian curry served up in a bespoke terracotta pan. The new autumn menu drops on 4th October and Las Iguanas favourites will also be available for delivery and to Click & Collect.

Josh Stringer, General Manager at the new Las Iguanas, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing our iconic flavours of Latin America to Canterbury. We have brought together a fantastic team, creating over 30 new jobs, and we hope we’ll quickly get to know everyone and see them stopping by regularly to try some of our delicious dishes, sip cocktails in the bar, bring friends for Bottomless Brunch, or use Las Iguanas to celebrate life’s good bits. We’ve just opened bookings for Christmas and have lots of ways for you to party, from a set Christmas menu to late Bottomless Brunches, so do get in touch if you are looking for the hottest Christmas ticket in town!”

Las Iguanas will open on 26th September at 3-5 Longmarket, Canterbury CT1 2JS. Online bookings including Christmas parties are now open at www.iguanas.co.uk/restaurants/canterbury/canterbury/book-now
