Double Win for Dunnet Bay Distillers in the Highland Business Awards 2021

Thurso-based Dunnet Bay Distillers has won two accolades in the Highland Business Awards 2021.

The company, owned and founded by husband-and-wife team Martin Murray and Claire Murray, won the Environmental Sustainability Award sponsored by SSE Renewables; and also picked as the overall winner of the Award for Innovation sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The firm was also shortlisted for Employer of the Year.

The ceremony took place on 25 November. The Highland Business Awards celebrate the achievements of businesses throughout the region.

Martin Murray said: "We are immensely proud of our environmental sustainability ethos, underlined by the appointment earlier this year of a dedicated Environment Manager. We do everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment, a good example being our unique refill pouches which are fully recyclable. We are also innovative in our approach to business and to have won both of these awards is a great honour for us and for the whole company. We are grateful to our colleagues for their brilliant work."

Claire Murray added: "We are also absolutely thrilled to have been nominated by our team for Employer of the Year, the award wasn't destined for us this year, but we really are incredibly touched to have been nominated and it really meant a lot to us."

Dunnet Bay Distillers' gin brand, multi-award-winning Rock Rose Gin, was recently named by CoolBrands® as a 2021-22 winner.

The distillery is the most northerly UK mainland distillery and grows or forages sustainably for many of the botanicals used in its gins and also Holy Grass Vodka.
