Christmas Comes Early With Captain Morgan’s Limited-Edition Gingerbread Flavour

October 16, 2019

CAPTAIN MORGAN is introducing a brand-new limited-edition flavour to its portfolio – Captain Morgan Gingerbread Spiced. Available exclusively for the festive period at Greene King pubs, the seasonal variant is distilled with the sweet and warming taste of baked gingerbread for a deliciously festive spirit for all the crew to enjoy.

With consumers ordering everything from gingerbread martinis to eggnog cocktails, there has never been a better time of year to stock this popular flavour. With the festive period a key time for the on-trade, with 5.8 million UK consumers trying new or different drinks during the Christmas period in 2018, versus 3.2 million in the average month[1], there is an opportunity for outlets to cater for this demand for more adventurous flavours.

Tapping into this demand, the new gingerbread flavour presents outlets with a huge opportunity to drive incremental sales. 50% of consumers change their cocktail order during the winter months[2] as they look for alternative options to the traditional summer serves (hot cocktails are increasing +6.6pp in winter[3]). Licensees can therefore jump on this trend by serving a hot Captain Morgan Gingerbread & Apple. A perfect serve for all the crew to enjoy at Christmas parties this year, the limited-edition rum is infused with the very best winter flavours to help drive seasonal sales.

Currently stocked in over 64,000 outlets across GB[4], Captain Morgan is UK’s no.1 rum brand[5] and is renowned for bringing the crew together – perfect for occasions like Christmas. With Captain Morgan offering a wide range of drinks, each with its own distinctive flavour and personality, the new gingerbread flavour is sure to make a statement this October.

Amy Mooney, Head of Captain Morgan, Europe says: “Rum is the commander of cocktails, thanks to its great flavour and versatile nature, so we wanted to be able to offer licensees a new spirit to really help drive sales this Christmas. With consumers looking for something warming, and more adventurous over the Christmas period, our delicious hero serve with apple, enjoyed hot or cold, is sure to re-inspire and attract a new wave of Captain Morgan fans!”
