This October, John Lewis & Partners Oxford Street is set to launch a fairground experience in the sky as the flagship rooftop transforms into The Winter Carnival. Opening its carnival doors to guests from midday Friday 18th October, Londoners will be welcomed into a world of illumination for those special Insta-moments, alongside winter games and activities, Americana street food, seasonal cocktails and more.

Google Curling Station

Rooftop guests are invited to battle it out with friends and family on the Curling lane, ‘the Google way’. With a mounted Google Pixel, specifically designed to take night sight imagery, guest can capture their games at any time of the day. For a sprinkling of classic fairground fun, the free Google Claw Machine will have guests reaching for the prizes, with the likes of Google Nest products up for grabs and a Google Pixel phone won each week.

Offering those picture-perfect moments, the roof will play host to static fairground horses and bumper cars, while Philips Hue Lily up-lighters will be discreetly placed around the garden, washing every image with a winter glow, putting the finishing touches to a filter-free flawless Insta-pic.

The former dens will be transformed into the magical House of Mirrors, House of Lights and House of Fortune, powered by Google Nest and Philips Hue. With up to 16 million colour variations to choose from, Philips Hue will allow guests to set the scene to match their mood through voice-activated Google Nest products, creating an experience unique to each guest. Bookable in advance, the ‘Houses’ are the perfect setting for get-togethers with friends over winter drinks and food.

Rustling up an Americana-style feast, Jimmy Garcia will be bringing The Carnival Diner to the roof. As seen on Sunday Brunch, This Morning, The Saturday Show and Food Junkies, Jimmy will be offering delicious dishes to share amongst friends; think Popcorn Shrimp, Deep-Fried Wallys, Loaded Corn Dogs and more. Set inside the rooftop restaurant, bedecked with gold mirrors and lighting, guests will be able to book a table online or turn up on the day to try their luck.

Giving that much-needed caffeine hit, Sage Appliances will be hosting a pop-up bar, offering festive coffee cocktails all season long, and to cure those back-to-work blues, every Tuesday, they will be running a Coffee Masterclass in the House of Lights. Available to groups of six guests at a time, the classes will run from 6:00-7:00pm from 12th November to 17th December. Showing that you don’t have to compromise when it comes to replicating cafe quality at home, Sage will also be demonstrating the Oracle Touch Espresso Machine, 5-7pm on specific afternoons throughout the season (weather permitting), and offering espresso tasters from their cart next to the caravan.

Serving up seasonal serves, wines and beers, rooftop residents Background Bars, will be back with a delicious variety of cocktails. The Winter Carnival will be running from Friday 18th October to Sunday 5th January. Rooftop revellers can look forward to additional seasonal touches for the upcoming Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas festivities, so be sure to keep up to date on the latest events and activities via https://www.johnlewis.com/our-services/roof-garden
