Yeray Monforte From Spain Triumphs As 2018 Global Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition Winner
After months of fierce competition against thousands of entrants from around the globe, Yeray Monforte of Dr Stravinsky in Barcelona, Spain, has been crowned the 2018 Global Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition winner, with his cocktail Wind.
In 2018 Patrón Tequila went on the search for perfection across six continents and 17 countries. The task? To create a simply perfect Patrón cocktail that reflects and harnesses the passion, precision and care that goes into each expertly crafted bottle of ultra-premium Patrón Tequila.
After winning the Spain finals of the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition, Yeray travelled to Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico, to compete in the semi-finals on 23rd January 2019. Yeray’s brilliant cocktail Wind secured him a place as one of the top six in the Grand Final the following day, where he was joined by fellow finalists Óscar Olvera from Mexico, Makina Labrecque from Canada, Peter Hannah from the USA, Chloé Merz from Germany and Mitsuhiro Nakamura from Japan.
Waving the flag for the UK, Nicole Sykes, from Satan’s Whiskers, London, represented the country’s fantastic bartending scene in the semi-finals with her creation The Godfather’s Affinity, a floral and sweet interpretation of Mexico's popular Paloma. Nicole said: “The Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition been a great journey of discovery and learning, enabling me to further develop my craft. Representing the UK and its amazing bar scene has been an incredible honour. During the competition, I met some of the world’s most amazing bartenders and being here at the Hacienda with these new friends and to see the variety of each of the Patrón Tequila serves has been really inspiring. Patrón Tequila has built a great community within the industry, and from the affinity and complicity of this community I drew the inspiration for my cocktail. I congratulate all of my fellow finalists, and above all Yeray for his well-deserved win!”

Ingredients
60ml Patrón Silver tequila 60ml Eternal youth mixture (Mix 25 ml orange honey, 25 ml lemon juice, and 10 ml olive oil) 25ml Egg whites 20ml Fino Wine
1 Spray of Patrón Reposado macerated in bee pollen 3 Pieces of fresh thyme and a strip of beeswax for garnish
Method
1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill and combine 2. Double strain into a coupe glass 3. Garnish with thyme and beeswax
