The clocks have gone back, Halloween is done and dusted so let’s now step into Christmas.  Most venues throughout the UK are now fully focused on the build up to the festive season and the essential revenue that it brings.

It appears a very positive Budget for the hospitality sector which is welcomed after so much uncertainty. A freeze in the rate of beer, cider and spirits duty will really help avoid an additional squeeze on the industry.

We have a very special giveaway this month brought to you by Brockmans, the ‘gin like no other’.  Our cover stars have published The Black Book of Gin Cocktails to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the launch of this incredible English gin. To mark this occasion we are giving away 5 gifts compromising the new book and a bottle of Brockmans gin. Details on how to enter are on page 13.

We venture up the M4, over the Severn Bridge and into Pontypool for our Fireball Live Music Focus this month. The Dragonffli is South Wales’ premier live music venue and brainchild of local musician Nick Byrne.  It’s a real labour of love and totally unique. Venues like this make up the backbone of the live music industry. Try hosting a live music night, it will work. Resident band Skiv are on tour and coming to a town near you!

Lanchester Wines give us the Christmas wine conundrum. Venues throughout the land will be tinkering wine lists to match that all important food menu. Ian Richardson provides some top tips on what wine to offer customers if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Christmas has truly arrived at Backyard Cinema. The immersive cinema pioneers will be doing more than just playing winter favourites this year. Popping up at Winterville as part of London’s alternative festive experience on Clapham Common is Christmas Labyrinth. In addition they have also paired up with Penguin Ventures to showcase exclusive launch of The Snowman™ Experience to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic story known and loved by all.  If you’re looking to try hosting something a little different this festive season taking a leaf out of their book wouldn’t be a bad idea.

As always, we’re packed full of industry news, innovative products and trends, all of which aim to keep your venue at the cutting edge as we go into the busiest time of the year.

Cheers
