KERB Presents Jam On Rye - A brand new one-day celebration of sound system culture and the best of L

KERB are stepping off the concrete to bring you their first music festival on Peckham Rye 'Jam on Rye' for a celebration of sound system culture; so expect a mix of reggae, afrobeat and new wave jazz. This one day festival not only delivers an incredible music line-up, but the best of London street food (after all, this is what KERB does best), summer cocktails, special local talent, talks, family activities and more.

Across three stages they’ll be dishing out an audible flavour clash. The Main Stage will be presented by Reggae Roast and headlined by David Rodigan, Horace Andy (Live) and Mungo’s HiFi, and the second stage hosted by south London promoters ‘Wormfood’. The third stage will play host to KERB's second ‘KERB Talks’; a panel discussion on London’s sounds system culture and local talent. The street food line up curated by KERB is set to showcase the best of London street food including Breddos, White Men Can't Jerk, Only Jerkin' and more. Like all KERB events - this one’s for everyone: whether you’re a baby boomer or a boom-boxer, got gold teeth or no teeth, get this date locked in now. This isn’t the first time KERB has ventured to south London. Back in 2013 their “KERB does Peckham” party at the Bussey Building carpark was one to remember: DIY to the core - wild, abandoned, open-air – and with views for miles on a couple of perfect summer evenings. Five years on and KERB are still bringing together all the things that makes London taste better, but this time on a MUCH bigger scale. Same energy, same heart - more music, more food, more people connecting and livening London space.

It’s not the first time they’ve joined forces with Reggae Roast either. In May 2016 they hosted KERB’s Reggae Roast on Granary Square - their favourite event to date.

We love reggae and look back longingly on the times when sound systems were everywhere in London – truck-loads of speakers roaming around, setting up and making the streets throb with the latest sound just like their street food trucks do with flavour. By linking up with the brilliant Reggae Roast and clustering all their favourite Caribbean street food traders, they made Granary Square brock out for two days straight. THE MUSIC

Drumming out sounds of reggae, afrobeat and new wave jazz, in collaboration with Reggae Roast and Wormfood. Since forming in 2007, Reggae Roast have forged a reputation as the leading light in the new wave UK Reggae / Dancehall scene. Combining the label, events and sound system they are spreading the conscious message in the music far and wide, whilst forging a reputation as one the driving forces in the new wave of British Reggae.

Having put on 100’s of sell out shows, Reggae Roast have hosted some of the biggest and most respected artists from the UK to JA and beyond, all performing alongside the Reggae Roast Sound.

Wormfood represents forward thinking, danceable music from around the world, specialising in the common ground between afro, jazz and electronics. David Rodigan MBE is the original Reggae selector and soundclash champion and his BBC Radio 1Xtra show is renowned for bringing the best new cutting-edge reggae and classic cuts to the airwaves. Expect an energetic and vibe inducive performance from Rodigan this May bank holiday.

THE FOOD KERB are bringing in a selection of their best traders to trade at Jam On Rye, doing one off themed specials just for this festival. The line-up includes Breddos, White Men Can’t Jerk, BBQ Dreams, Only Jerkin’, Club Mexicana, Baggio Burger, The Grilling Greek, Indian Street Kitchen, Wandercrust, South East Cakery, Nonna’s Gelato, alongside some newly scouted South London guest trader talent Bokit’la, plus more to be announced.
