Hospitality Action's Big Fat Quiz and Le Tour de Cuisine Cotswold Cycle Challenge return

The Big Fat Quiz is back! Tickets for what has become one of Hospitality Action’s most popular events are now on sale and this year’s extravaganza will be hosted by Radio and TV Presenter Pat Sharp of Fun House and What’s Up Doc fame.

Now in its twelfth year, guests will need their wits about them as they tackle questions on music, sport and entertainment – the ideal opportunity to bring friends and colleagues together. The Big Fat Quiz takes place at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London on Wednesday 9th May.

Sponsored by Bidfood and the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, the biggest quiz in town promises to be a fun-filled evening of trivia and networking. Guests will be treated to a drinks reception, a delicious three course meal including slow-cooked shepherd’s pie, wine and a goody bag! There will also be a live auction with many exclusive items up for grabs.

It’s a night of light hearted fun, but there’s a serious reason behind it. Hospitality Action helps those in the industry in times of need, whether suffering from serious illness, bereavement, redundancy, poverty or mental illness. In 2017 over 2,000 people were helped by the charity when they needed it most.

Mark Lewis, Hospitality Action CEO comments: “It’s only with thanks to the ongoing support of the industry who so actively support our fundraising events, that we’ve been able to make a difference to all of these people’s lives. The Big Fat Birthday Quiz was a huge success last year so we’re excited to bring it back this spring.

“We’ve already had a host of well-known companies and industry names, including The Goring, Nestlé Professional and Unilever Food Solutions, sign up. Tickets are selling fast, so I urge others to get in there quick if they want the chance to win the quizzing crown.”

If you think you have what it takes to be named quiz champion, or just fancy an evening of great food, networking and entertainment, email fundraising@hospitalityaction.org.uk, visit www.hospitalityaction.org.uk/events or simply call 020 3004 5504. Tickets are £140 each or £1,300 for a table of 10.

Gearing up for Le Tour De Cuisine

Hospitality Action is delighted to announce its fifth annual Le Tour de Cuisine – Cotswold Cycle Challenge, which passes through some of the region’s most picturesque villages and countryside on Monday 4th June.

Sponsored by Sky and Technogym UK, this year’s fundraising event features new routes that take in the best of the North Cotswold countryside and a brand-new start/finish location at the stunning Calcot hotel, near Tetbury. The Short Ride, at 20 miles, is ideal for those who fancy a leisurely cycle while for keener cyclists, there are routes of 40 and 60 miles. Those up for an even tougher test can take on the might of the gruelling 100-mile challenge.

As ever, there will be feeding stations along the way for essential refuelling. These are at Whatley Manor and The Painswick, both of which will offer an array of delicious treats kindly arranged by local hotels. Extra energy will be available at power pit stops along all the routes and finishers will once again be able to enjoy the congratulatory BBQ to celebrate their success at the end of the ride.

Mark Lewis, Chief Executive at Hospitality Action, comments: “Last year almost 200 cyclists braved a typically British summer day of wind, rain and cold, raising a record £50,000 – a truly magnificent effort.

“However, we want to help even more hospitality people in crisis this year, but we need the industry’s help to do it, so why not sign up with your teams, colleagues and friends and join in the fun? The funds you raise really make a huge difference to our work.”

The challenge is one of several fundraising events run by the charity this year, which includes the The Big Fat Quiz on Wednesday 9th May at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge and The Northern Lights Dinner, a truly spectacular fundraising dinner at the five star Lowry Hotel in Salford on Monday 1st October.

Bronwyn de Cholewa, Director at Sky said: “We’re proud to be co-sponsoring this year’s Tour de Cuisine. Hospitality Action is a great cause which continues to provide outstanding support to those who work or have worked in the UK’s hospitality industry. We are delighted to be able to offer our support by partnering with them.”

Paul Morris, Consumer Business Director at Technogym UK said: “As a company that operates within the Hospitality industry and promotes wellness as its core business, partnering with Hospitality Action for its Cotswold Cycle Challenge was a natural choice. To support participants on the day we’ll be providing two of our MyCycling smart trainers and cycling advice so those taking part can warm up and make last minute technique tweaks.”

Registration for each of the routes is £30, with a minimum of £100 sponsorship required to raise those much-needed funds for Hospitality Action’s cause. The fee includes breakfast, food and non-alcoholic drinks along the way and the celebratory BBQ.
