Fort Amherst Halloween Horrors - ENTER AT YOUR PERIL!!!
Fort Amherst in Kent is Britain’s largest Napoleonic fortress and features a fascinating network of underground tunnels, beautiful parkland, which is open to the public free of charge all year round and stunning views of the river from one of Medway’s highest points.
The next big on site production is the world famous Halloween Horrors which kicked off on Thursday 26th October. These have been described by the experts at ScareTour as ‘Not for the faint of heart’ and as being ‘Like something straight out of a horror film!’ by What’s On magazine.
Running for over 30 years it’s back and as terrifying as its ever been! The tunnels are split into different themes and decorated accordingly with actors (or are they?) lurking around every corner, in the walls and above doorways ready to scare anyone who dares to venture in. This is an absolute must if horror is your bag. It’s quite possibly the best scare attraction in the whole of the UK.
This is as real as it gets so don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Due to the overwhelming success of events suitable for younger guests the children’s and teens tours will again be available for 2017!
If being scared out of your mind isn’t up your street then take a break in the traditional on site cafe as there is so much to see and learn at the Fort. Events are held all year round, including daily educational tunnel tours, archery sessions, ghost hunts, owl flying experiences and wine/beer tastings.
This is an exciting time for the Fort as it will soon be at the centre of an archaeological exploration and heritage regeneration project following a successful bid for support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Fort Amherst Heritage Trust together with Medway Council have secured funding to help the area reconnect with its military roots and discover secrets from the past. The project, called Command Of The Heights, will see the creation of a new pedestrian entrance to the Fort from Chatham town centre as well as the opening of the Spur Battery, an area of the fort once used for troop encampments,siege warfare training and military punishment.
The Spur Battery will be transformed into an amphitheatre with seating to allow for outdoor performances and it’s hoped that many local people will be as excited by this announcement and will want to become involved with the project.

TEENS Halloween Horrors (for guests aged 12 to 16 years). Tickets £15.50 in advance, £18 on the door (subject to availability).
Theses tours are running on Thursday the 26th, Friday the 27th, Saturday the 28th, Sunday the 29th,Monday the 30th and Tuesday the 31st of October 2017.
CHILDREN’S Halloween Tours (for guests aged 12 and under - must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets £6.50 in advance, £9 on the door (subject to availability).
